I second this request. I believe the answer is no, given this conferencing platform. I think our only choice right now is to simply make our e-mail addresses known, and hope for the best. Not a good solution.
I too would enjoy this feature if it is possible.
If private messaging is implemented, my preference would be for some kind of message box within the website, rather than relying on messages sent to my email address. I don't necessarily check my email address very often. It would also have to be understood that the recipient of a private message may or may not choose to respond to it. I normally prefer to have philosophically significant discussions that I'm involved in exposed to a wider audience and would probably ignore most private overtures.
Hi, guys. Yes, messaging directly to others would be great to have! Unfortunately, it isn't supported by the platform which OA is based on (OSQA), and I simply don't have the time to become an OSQA developer to add the feature... Sorry, we'll need to just ask for email addresses in comments and so forth, unless someone would like to provide a patch for the site's software (in which case, please contact me at admin@objectivistanswers.com! :^).
