The IRS was created to finance the Civil War. Would it be moral to, as an alternative to violating the rights of Northerner to finance the war, create bonds that are promises to land appropriated from southern rights violators to finance the war? (e.g., spoils of war) This question assumes that the war against the Confederate was morally right to protect the rights of blacks, which are or should've been considered citizens of the US, from being violated. |
