As I look around at politics in the US, I find myself increasingly thinking of it as a choice between a rock and a hard place. One one hand you have "mystics of muscle" who are becoming ever more intrusive (the left wing Democrats) via ever-increasing government power. On the other hand you have "mystics of mind" who don't care what you do as long as you believe in what they believe (a prime example of this is the evangelical movement of the American Right). The question is: is there an obvious choice ? Is one flavor of mysticism better than the other or is this a false choice? What does one do when faced with this choice?

What you do voting wise is always pick whoever is the least destructive at that time to slow down the destruction, while advocating the proper philosophy. The proper political philosophy is "Objective Freedom" described at http://www.objectivefreedom.com

It's a false choice. They both end in the same place: totalitarianism, with control over both your mind and body.

The choices for a rational person are limited:

  1. Resist. Pronounce judgment, in whatever ways and to whatever audience is open to you.
  2. Don't support the flawed aspects of the system more than you have to. "Sanction of the victim," and all that.
  3. Run for office yourself, or find someone with a more rational way of thinking, and support them.
  4. Withdraw from the system, either by yourself, or with a group of like-minded people.
  5. Relocate to an area that's not as damaged.
